The 2026 Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is scheduled for April 25-May 4 and September 13-18. This dual listing creates a significant logistical challenge for international publishers, agents, and attendees planning their 2026 literary calendar. Conflicting dates, reported by Publishingperspectives for the 35th edition and by Gulf News and travel2fair for the broader event, expose a lack of unified information.
Abu Dhabi invests heavily to become a premier global event destination. However, the conflicting schedules for its flagship 2026 book fair reveal a gap in unified information dissemination. This tension between aspiration and execution risks its reputation among international partners.
Based on the early and sometimes contradictory information, event organizers and attendees should exercise caution and seek direct confirmation, as the landscape for major international gatherings remains fluid. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain expect to host 297 events in the second half of 2026, according to Gulf News. This high volume amplifies the impact of any scheduling inconsistencies for a flagship event like the ADIBF.
1. Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2026
Best for: International publishers, literary agents, authors, and readers interested in global book markets and cultural exchange.
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) remains a key platform for showcasing diverse literary works and fostering publishing deals. While the 35th edition, featuring Al Farahidi and the Balkans as Guest of Honour, is scheduled for April 25 to May 4, 2026, by Adbookfair, the 2026 fair is also listed for September 13-18, 2026, by travel2fair.
Strengths: Extensive reach with over 1200 publishers expected; cultural focus on specific guests of honor. | Limitations: Conflicting 2026 dates create significant planning uncertainty; projected visitor numbers for 2026 (165,000) are lower than 2023's exhibitor firms (1,300+) according to travel2fair and displayed titles (500,000+), suggesting a conservative outlook amidst the scheduling confusion. | Price: Not available.
